TAORMINA

Taormina is considered the "Pearl of the Ionian sea" for its landscapes, the sea, its monuments and its typical scents. In the XVII century, Taormina was an important destination of the ''Grand Tour", a long voyage around the continental Europe, undertaken by the rich young people of the European aristocracy.

It was for all those people who wanted to deepen their knowledge. It could last some months or even years. What's more, usually, the destination was Italy. It's thought that the word "tourism" and, more in general, the phenomenon of modern travels were born thanks to the "Grand Tour". During the XX century, Taormina became the destination of expatriate artists, writers and intellectuals.
Suddenly, the city became famous in all the world especially for its beauties. It's the city of fascinating landscapes, colors, transgression and ''sweet life". The most ancient monument in Taormina is the theater of Greek and Roman times. It was built in the point of the city from which it was possible to see the coast and Etna. During the summer period, it gives the opportunity to live the amazing experience of watching shows under a starry sky.
